I’ve been working on a project lately: a headboard for our downstair’s guest bedroom. Or what passes for a guest room. It’s really just the super-long playroom/craft room partitioned off over by the fireplace. But I’ve been adding little touches to make it seem more bedroom-like. A headboard is a necessity.
Like our master bedroom, I started by using louvered panels I purchased at the ReBuilding Center on N. Mississippi Street in Portland. Then I purchased some super cheap 1x 4s to make the frame. (You can get those at the ReBuilding Center, as well.) Here is a photo of how Chad and I built the back brace, which will bolt on to the bed frame:
But unlike our headboard, I will cover this headboard with batting and fabric. Finding fabric wider than 60″ presented a challenge. But I found a great solution! More on that later.
