It’s mid-summer, which means we are at the height of garage sale season. For those of you who love home design, but have a minuscule budget, garage sales give you the opportunity to buy items inexpensively that can be transformed into cool furniture or accessories for your home. Here are some ideas for turning your garage sale finds into treasures:
The Sassy Crafter made this neat end table out of an old Chinese Checkers board attached to a neglected end table. Wouldn’t this look great in a kids’ room or rec room? See how she did it here.
I love this castoff metal bar stool covered in an old flour sack. It’s an easy project that adds a touch of vintage-cool to your kitchen. See how Blue Castle made it here.
Our Poverty With a View recovered these beat-up chairs with sassy zebra fabric. This looks like a bit of a complicated project, but one that can be done fairly inexpensively, resulting in a chair that looks like you spent $$$ on it. Read how she did it here.
This transformation of a chest? curio cabinet? is thanks to some elegant fabric and black paint. Better Homes and Garden came up with this stunning rejuvenation.
This one is my favorite, from HGTV. Garage sale knives are glued to the back of a round mirror, then the whole thing is spray-painted. How clever — and easy — is that?
