Do you have a room that is a dumping ground for all of the stuff you don’t know what to do with? Maybe it’s just a corner in your house. Maybe it’s the entire garage. Often these rooms don’t get organized because the owner doesn’t know where to start. It all seems so overwhelming.
Here’s a tip that I think may help. Instead of trying to figure out what to get rid of, zero in on what you want to keep. Pretend your house is on fire and you have only a few minutes to grab what is most important to you in that room. Set a timer for 3 minutes or so, and snatch what you would save out of that room!
It’s amazing how it becomes instantly clear what is worth saving and what is just clutter.

Genius idea! We have a computer room we recently converted into a bedroom… sort of. It’s stll filled with TONS of computer/office room junk. And, it’s been that way for about a month. We just don’t even know were to start. This sounds like a simple solution! I’m gonna give it a try right now 🙂

Hi Lisa,
Yes, go for it and then let me know how it goes! Another way of thinking about it is to ask yourself, if this item was lost in a fire, would I pay the money or take the time to replace it? Good luck!
