A brilliant way of storing toy cars that I wish I could take credit for

November 16, 2011 by respaced

You know what is at the bottom of your toy box? Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. They get thrown into the toy box, where they filter down through the big toys like the sugary nut morsels in a box of Honey Nut Clusters. But that will never happen again if you mount a magnetic strip to your playroom walls and have the kids stick the cars there!

This is absolutely AMAZING!! Even though we have long since passed the hot wheels stage, that does not mean I don’t have a whole box of special ones that can’t be thrown out. What a wonderful cheap wainscotting I could do with these in the playroom/hoping to one day be a media room. THANK YOU!

@ Andrea: I understand having the box of special Hot Wheels. My son has about 60 of them and some day when he finally, FINALLY agrees to get rid of them, I know I will want to keep a few too. The magnetic strip would be cute displaying a few of those small toys our kids love, don’t you think? Thanks for the comment!
@Emily: I too was wondering if they would work on those little train cars! I don’t see why not. They always get mixed up with the Hot Wheels in our house, so this would be a great way to separate them. Good thinking! Thanks for the comment!

I wonder if this would work for all of those Thomas Trains that always end up next to my son’s train table instead of on it. Those things hurt like the dickens when you step on them in the middle of the night! 😉
