For the last 15 years, our specialty here at reSPACEd has been working with clients with ADHD. We love working with this population! We love their energy, creativity, sense of humor, friendliness and out-of-the-box thinking style. Along the way, we have noticed a lot of similarities when it comes to helping them get organized. These are the ways we have seen ADHD impact their ability to get and stay organized:
Impulsive shopping
Abandoning their organizing project
Churning the pile when they try to get organized
Need for novelty, which results in giving up early on organizing systems
Lots of hobbies
Time blindness
Difficulty making decisions
Overly sentimental about some or all of their things
Frequently losing items
Difficulty keeping up with maintenance
All of these tendencies make it hard for the person with ADHD to get organized! But fortunately, we have come up with lots of tools and strategies for combatting these issues. If any of these tendencies sound like you, reach out to us here at reSPACEd to get help. We would love to lend a hand!
