Hands-On Home Organizing – Mockup

Hands-On Home Organizing Services

Whether it’s a small closet or nearly every room in your house, home organizing services can help you clear the clutter and transform your space into the relaxing refuge that you deserve.

What to Expect

MaryJo will first schedule an initial on-site assessment with you to give you a time and cost estimate for your project.

Then, she or a member of the reSPACEd team will work with you in 3-4 hour blocks of time to help you sort through your belongings and make decisions about what to keep or toss. Your organizer will provide all the supplies needed to sort and pare down your space.

During the organizing appointment, your organizer will devise custom storage solutions for you that look attractive while maximizing your space. We always try to “shop” from what you own first, keeping new purchases to an absolute minimum.

Finally, she will create a simple maintenance plan for you and teach you new habits and routines to adopt so your space stays organized for good. Your donations will be itemized for a tax receipt and given to a worthy charity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during a hands‑on organizing session?

During each 3–4 hour session, your organizer helps you sort through belongings, make decisions about what to keep or let go, and create customized storage solutions that fit your space and routines. All sorting supplies are provided.

Is it just MaryJo who does all the organizing work or does she have employees?

MaryJo has three employees, and all four of them see clients one-on-one. Who you work with depends on which reSPACED employee is the best fit, lives nearby, and has availability in her calendar.

Do I need to clean up before you arrive?

No. You don’t need to tidy or prepare anything. We expect clutter — that’s why you’re hiring us! Our process is completely judgment‑free.

Will you make me get rid of my things?

Never. You make all decisions about what stays or goes. We guide, support, and offer suggestions, but you remain in full control.

How long will it take to get organized?

It depends on the size of the space, how quickly you make decisions, and your goals. Clients work in 3–4 hour blocks, and we can estimate a timeline after your on‑site assessment.

What is the cost of hands‑on organizing?

Hands‑on organizing is $85 per hour with a 3‑hour minimum. If you live outside of Portland, Milwaukie or Lake Oswego, there is a $25-45 per session travel fee, depending on what town you live in. You’ll receive a time and cost estimate after your initial assessment.

Do you work outside of Portland?

Yes, we work in Beaverton, Lake Oswego, Happy Valley, Milwaukie, Gladstone, Oregon City, Tigard, Tualatin, Hillsboro, Sherwood, Newberg and on a case-by-case basis in Vancouver. We don’t work as far out as Forest Grove, West Linn, Canby, Wilsonville, Damascus, Troutdale or Sandy, along with a few other places.

What should I expect at the initial assessment?

Founder MaryJo will visit your home in person, look at the spaces you want help with, discuss your goals, and provide a time and cost estimate. This helps us make sure we have the proper training and experience for your particular project, and it gives you a chance to meet us and get all your questions answered.

Do you work with people who have ADHD, anxiety, or depression?

Yes. Our organizers have significant training in supporting clients with ADHD, depression, and anxiety. Your organizer will work at your pace and use strategies that reduce overwhelm and decision fatigue.

Will you bring organizing products, or do I need to buy them?

We always “shop your house” first and use what you already own. If new products are needed, we keep purchases to a minimum and can make recommendations that fit your space and budget.

What happens to the items I choose to donate?

We are happy to take a carload of donations to Goodwill at the end of each session. For items that Goodwill doesn’t accept (or if you don’t like using Goodwill), your organizer will know of several other charities that you can take your donations to. Feel free to ask!

I feel embarrassed about my clutter. Is that normal?

Completely. Most clients feel overwhelmed or self‑conscious at first. Our team is warm, supportive, and judgment‑free — we’ve seen every kind of space, and our only goal is to help you feel better in your home.

Do I need to be present during the organizing session?

Yes. Because you make all decisions about your belongings, your participation is essential. We guide you through the process step by step, and make time so you can take as many breaks as you need.

What kinds of spaces do you organize?

We can help with nearly any area of your home — closets, kitchens, playrooms, garages, home offices, basements, cars, and whole‑house projects.
