Did you know there is a store in Portland where you can buy used and vintage sewing notions and fabrics? Knittn Kitten (no, that’s not a typo) at 7530 NE Glisan is the only place in Portland that will buy your excess sewing, needlecraft, beading and knitting items and sell them in their store. They also accept your donations if you’re looking to get rid of these things fast.
Their vintage items range in age from the 1930s-1970s. For you crafty, thrifty types, this is an excellent place to find one-of-a-kind fabrics, buttons and trim at unbelievably low prices. Think of what fun you can have with original dress patterns from the 1960s or flower-splashed tablecloths from the 1950s! They also sell old linens, quilt tops, and beads. Click here for their inventory list.
If you want to sell your sewing items, be sure to call them at 502-255-3022 before you stop by so they can be sure to have enough cash on hand to pay you. And if you’re dealing with a large collection of fabrics, notions, linens and the like, they will even drive out to the estate to give you a bid on it.
Finally, if you are looking for a certain notion or type of fabric, let them know. They’ll keep an eye out for it and call you if it comes in. Did I mention that the employees are very kind and helpful?
This place is super inspiring, inexpensive, fun and a great form of recycling. What more could you ask?
