Why not take advantage of this beautiful sunny weather to declutter your garage? It may seem like an overwhelming task, but here are some tips to make it go easier:
1. Get two or three friends to help you.
2. Take everything out of the garage and categorize it into piles on your driveway (e.g. pile of camping gear, pile of gardening supplies, pile of automotive supplies)
3. Once everything is in a pile, you, the owner of the stuff, visits each pile and decides what to keep and what to discard.
4. Put back the stuff you are saving, placing items you use the most often at eye level and near the door. Be sure and keep the stuff in the piles together in the garage.
The beauty of this method is that it is a lot easier to see that you have, say, five shovels, when they are all grouped together in a pile in the driveway. You immediately can tell what needs to be discarded. And then when it is time to put back what you are keeping, you can instantly see how much space you will have to allocate in the garage just by glancing at the size of the piles.
See? It doesn’t have to be a nightmare. Be sure to treat yourself to a great reward afterward for a job well done.
