My work as a professional organizer recently took me to an office in the basement of a commercial building. After many hours and many sessions of sorting through papers, I finally got to my favorite stage of any organizing project: Bringing in new products! The client needed a place to store his enormous printer, plus all of the accompanying accessories (ink, paper). So I brought in The Container Store’s Origami 4-Shelf Folding Rack ($139 — pictured above). The makers of this rack claim you can set it up in 20 seconds.
The rack comes pre-assembled and packed flat. All you do is puuuuulllll the two ends of the rack out to stand it up. Ok, piece of cake! All was going well until I reached the end when it was time to flip the top shelf over and snap it into place. I realized the ceiling of the office was too low for the shelf to flip over! Dang it!
So I carefully tilted the whole unit on its side, balanced it against my knee for support, held onto the rack with one hand, and successfully flipped the lid with the other hand. Organizer Yoga!
Now the printer fits nicely on the unit, and there is ample space for the paper and other office accessories.
The rack is very sturdy, and I think it looks great! Plus, I got a great yoga workout in putting it together. Winning!
