Before we do any organizing together, I visit you in your house for a 60 minute initial assessment. This is where you get a chance to meet me and ask questions, and I get a chance to take a first-hand look at your situation so I can give you an estimate for how many hours your project will take.
I type up my estimate in a bid and email it to you. Then if you like what you see in the bid, we schedule organizing sessions together. Organizing sessions are 2, 3 or 4 hours long (you get to choose how long) and we typically schedule them once or twice a week until your project is finished.
On the day of your first organizing appointment, I bring in several bags of supplies (label makers, Ziploc bags, Post-Its, pens, scissors, etc.) I explain my 4-step organizing process to you and we get to work digging out!
We start on one side of the room and sort things into categories. You get to make the decision about what happens to each of your things, but if the thought of that stresses you out, don’t worry! I will help you with this part. I have a lot of strategies to make the decision-making go faster and feel easier for you.
I set a timer to go off every hour to remind us to take a quick break, drink water, eat a snack and use the bathroom if necessary. You would be amazed at how easy it is to get busy organizing and forget to listen to all of our body’s signals!
At about 20 minutes before the end of the organizing session, we stop sorting and start working on cleaning up. I take your recycling and trash out to the curb for you. I load up my car with any donations I am taking to charities. We put things away that already have a home, and we talk about homework you can complete in-between your organizing sessions. Finally, we schedule another session and I accept payment from you.
I go home, and you get to stand back and admire all the space on the floor we just cleared! Hopefully, you spend the rest of the day doing something relaxing to reward yourself for all of your hard work!
And that’s what an organizing session with a reSPACEd professional organizer is like. Almost all of our clients report that their first session is a lot easier and not as stressful as they thought it would be. And people typically feel pretty excited after our first day of work together, so much so that many clients feel energized to start organizing other parts of their house on their own. We love that our clients feel so inspired! Ready to schedule your first session?
