One of the things reSPACEd does that sets us apart from other professional organizing companies in the Portland Metro area is offer low-cost initial assessments with a time/cost estimate. Here’s how this process works:
Before we begin any organizing work with you, the prospective client, we schedule an initial organizing assessment at your house. This assessment takes about an hour and costs just $20, just enough to cover our gas. We schedule these assessments for any clients living in Portland, Beaverton, Lake Oswego, West Linn, Milwaukie, Vancouver or Hillsboro. If you didn’t see your city in this list, we probably still go there, but we charge an additional travel fee.
At the assessment, I have a questionnaire that I go over with you. I want to know things like, “what are you hoping an organizer can do for you?” and “what do you think caused the disorganization?” I also want to know what you have tried, what works, and whether you have any issues that are internal (like a mental health diagnosis) or external (like a recently flooded basement) that are affecting your ability to get organized.
Then we tour the room(s) that you want to get organized and I take photos of the space. I keep the photos confidential and do not post them on my website or social media. The photos are so I can later study the contents of the room in order to come up with a time/cost estimate for the space.
After we tour the space, we sit back down and I review my Letter of Agreement with you. I explain what our organizing process is like, what happens during a typical session, and I review all of our policies. We talk about things like how we handle cancellations, who supplies organizing bins, and what we do with recycling and donations.
Then I go home and type up my findings in a Letter of Agreement form, including the time/cost estimate, and email it to you. If you like what you see in the estimate, we schedule weekly or bi-weekly organizing sessions that are two, three or four-hours long.
By conducting our initial assessments this way, we can make sure that we are a good fit for what you are looking for, and ensure that everyone is on the same page with what to expect from professional organizing services.
