It’s high summer here in Portland, which means we are staying busy doing lots of unpacking jobs for people who have just moved. Right after people move into their new home or apartment, I and my assistant Jen come in, open up all of their moving boxes and put away all of their things for them in a neat, orderly fashion. Some moving companies advertise that they offer unpacking services, but as professional organizers, we take the time to put things where they make the most sense. We even make sure all of the labels on jars face the same way, alphabetize your spices, fold all of your linens, and label every drawer, cabinet and closet so you can find your things once we leave.
Some of our clients stay on site while we unpack, and others need to go back to work or run errands while we are there. That’s fine. We are happy to unpack while you are away. It’s fun to surprise our clients with an orderly, box-free house when they come home.
During this pandemic, we are wearing gloves and masks while we unpack, and asking that clients and anybody else wear masks when they are in the same room as us (this includes kids!) This way, everyone stays safe.
If you need extra drawer dividers or bins to separate out your socks from your undies, we’ve got them. If you need advice on furniture placement, you can ask us. If you ended up packing things you don’t want, we can drive those unwanted things to Goodwill after the session for you.
