Offer from reSPACEd about organizing coaching

June 4, 2020 by respaced

During the quarantine of the last couple of months, I have been taking coaching training through the Coach Approach for Organizers program. I still will be a professional organizer and offer those services, but now I can add Organizer Coach to my repertoire. I’ve been practicing my skills on a weekly basis for the last 8 weeks with my study group, and now I’m ready to practice on clients out in the real world!

How is organizing coaching different from professional organizing?

For the last 12 years, I have been working as an Organizing Consultant. This means I listen to a client’s organizing dilemma, analyze their physical space, and tell them what to do to fix it (or I fix it for them). Coaching is different from consulting. In coaching, coaches partner with clients and step away from the expert role. Instead of telling clients what to do, coaches ask the right kind of questions so clients can find the answers from within themselves. Coaches do this because they believe that clients are the number one expert on themselves, and know best what will (or won’t work) for them. I will still be offering professional organizing services as an organizing consultant! But for those who want it, I can now ALSO offer organizing coaching.

How would you work with me as your coach?

You think about an organizing/productivity goal you would like to work on. We pick a time to talk on the phone or via Zoom for 30 minutes. I don’t need to see your space beforehand, since the focus is more on your thoughts and behaviors, and less about the actual space itself. We talk about your goal, make an action plan, and figure out what obstacles might get in your way. If you would like, we make a plan to talk again in another week or so to see how your action plan went. I will text or email you an invoice for $25 using Square.

What do I need from you?

Just your patience with me as I apply these new skills. And a willingness to be curious about yourself and an openness to try new strategies.

How do I get started?

Fill out the contact form on my website or email me directly at info@respacedpdx.com. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! I’m excited to be able to offer this service, in addition to all of our other organizing services!
